Why this exists

Because "South Indian Restaurant" is not a personality trait, and Mumbai deserves a map that knows the difference between a Malayali toddy-shop plate and an Udupi mess.

Ente Mallu Foods started as a personal list of Kerala food worth the detour — meen curry, appam, kappa, the places that actually taste like home. It grew to cover the home cooks and caterers doing sadya spreads and tiffin runs out of their own kitchens, no dining room required — because half of Malayali Mumbai's best cooking never opens a restaurant. Then it grew again to include the rest of South Indian Mumbai: Udupi, Tamil, Andhra, filter coffee. Mallu food and Mallu cooks still get first billing here; everyone else is good company. Part directory, part journal, part running argument about where the best filter coffee in the city actually is (still unresolved).

The place data here is a mix of first-hand knowledge and word of mouth. None of it is independently verified yet, and we say so, out loud, on every page — because a stale "still open!" is worse than no information at all. If you can help us verify a place, correct a tag, or just tell us we're wrong about something, that's the whole point of the contribute page.
